Senior Adults

"The Joyful Bunch"

The senior adult ministry at FBC McDonough is a blessing for this special group of people. The "Joyful Bunch" gets together for food, fellowship, and entertainment at a luncheon meeting each month. We have monthly day-trips to area attractions, and twice a year we attend a three-day retreat at the Georgia Baptist Center at Toccoa, Georgia.

For those who like to sing, our "Joyful Singers" practice weekly and perform at area Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities in December and May.

We may be retired, but we still know how to enjoy God's blessings. If you are 55 or over, you're welcome to come join us!

Church Family - Meet Charlie Kuykendall, our new Minister of Music and Senior Adults, and his wife, Michele!

Reverend Charles Grady Kuykendall came to know Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord at age seven and joined Huffman Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. He was raised as a minister's kid. His family served in Alabama and Georgia. While Charlie was attending an evangelistic crusade at age nine, he felt God's call to serve in full time ministry.

Charlie graduated with his Bachelor's in Church Music with Vocal emphasis from Baylor University, and received his Master of Arts in Religious Education with emphasis in Senior Adult Ministries from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. Charlie was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel at First Baptist Church, Dadeville. Charlie has served churches since his college days in Texas and in Alabama.

Charlie and his wife, Michele are blessed with four children. Michele, a citizen of South Africa, is a full time mom and a piano teacher. She is currently earning a certificate in Nouthetic Biblical Counseling. Their twins, Nathan and Jesse, are juniors in high school, and are avid soccer players. Amanda, a fine arts enthusiast, is a freshman in high school. Their youngest, Jackson, is about to turn nine. Jackson loves the outdoors and making new friends.

Charlie and Michele are passionate about missions. She has served on mission projects in Africa, India and the United States. Charlie counts it an honor to have served and lead various mission projects in the United States, Wales and China. They seek to serve God by taking advantage of each opportunity to minister both in their church and in their community. Charlie's brother is an IMB missionary, and his brother-in-law runs an orphanage in South Africa.

Charlie's life verse is Proverbs 3:5-6. His hobbies include photography, guitar, football, cross-cultural studies, travel, sci-fi movies and writing Backyard Bible Club programs. He also holds a Commercial Drivers License.
