About Us Deacon Ministry
At Your Service…The term "deacon" is derived from the Greek word “diakonos”, which is translated "servant". One of the roles of the FBC McDonough Deacons is to serve the needs of the Body of Christ. In order to do this the Deacon Body has created several Deacon Ministry Action Teams. Below you will find a description of each team and if you need assistance, please contact the church.
Action & Service Team:
This team is designed to meet the needs of the Body of Christ through duties such as yard and/or house work or minor projects for homebound, hospitalized or senior members. This team will also assist the Mission Team, Homeless Ministry, or other non-profit organizations with service projects.
Prayer Team:
The prayer team will be praying for both the needs of individuals within the church as well as for First Baptist McDonough as a whole. The ultimate goal of this team is to lead this church closer to God by regularly kneeling before Him on behalf of the church and it’s people.
Homebound/Hospital Team:
Meeting the needs of the First Baptist McDonough’s members who are homebound or hospitalized is one of our church’s top priorities. This team will maintain contact with the homebound members of the church, taking whatever actions are necessary to insure ties to the church are not broken. This team also assists and supports the Pastor, Staff, the Sunday School classes, and other members of the church with visitation of church members confined to the area hospitals, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers.
Transportation Ministry Team:
No one should miss out on all the exciting things First Baptist Church has going on just because they cannot get here. This team's ministry is to provide transportation to those who cannot provide their own to and from First Baptist Church, special events, doctors appointments, and etc.
Visitor and Outreach Ministry Team:
First Baptist Church already has an outstanding Visitor & Outreach Committee. This Deacons Ministry team is primarily focused on encouraging and providing support and assistance to the current Visitor & Outreach Committee in contacting new visitors to the church.
Staff Ministry Team:
The purpose of the Staff Ministry Team is to provide task assistance to personnel in the church office, including, but not limited to the Pastor, Minister of Music/Senior Adults, Minister of Youth, Minister of Children, Minister of Education, Church Secretary, Church Financial Secretary and other staff.
